Mars 1 (Mario Martinez)

WHY MARS1?

I believe that Martinez uses perspective well. His paintings create real depth. He claims that his thoughts are drawn into his imaginative compositions, and that they overflow with colourful geometric and organic shapes. His layering of shapes with different perspective points add to an energy and feeling of movement. They are layered to form unique patterns and textures.

STYLE: His style is a very free, abstract and futuristic. He makes his own landscapes which feature imagery of surreal distortions.

SHAPE Many shapes combine with spherical, transparent bubbles. Some are illustrations of gems, journeys and microscopic petri dishes.  Some forms are mirrored and see through whilst others are so ghost like they are almost appear to float on the surface.

LINE: He combines optical blending with perspective line work. This is when he starts using a blue for example and blends through to a yellow. This gives the result of three dimensional forms.
